A Poor Old Lady Aged 98 Who Has Never Missed A Month’s Rent Was Forced Out Of Her Apartment.
This outraging thing is happened in San Francisco, Mary Phillips, a 98-year-old lady is being evicted along with the rest of her fellow tenants by building owner Urban Green Investments. Because of the booming market and tech industry, the building’s owners see great opportunity to make money, and to do that, they have to ‘get rid of’ the tenants.
Mary has live 50 happy years there, and has never late for a month’s rent, she now worries that she might have to leave the city.
This terrible for the old lady along with other tenants, hope they will be ok.
Though Mary is rarely able to go out in her older years, she says the apartment’s view lets her have some contact with the outside world
Phillips has called San Francisco home in 1937 – the same year the Golden Gate Bridge opened to traffic – but if she’s forced out of her apartment she’ll be forced to leave the city because rents have gotten so high.
She is in danger of being kicked in the street by the building owners hoping to flip the property without any current tenants
Mary’s situation, along with that of hundreds of other Bay Area residents, has led to public demonstrations
In recent years the Bay Area real estate market has exploded leading to property owners nearly doubling evictions as they seek to sell and cash in
