When looking at these airy, soft-lined dresses, you may feel that you want to pick one of them and be ready for a dinner party or fancy gala. The sad truth is that these flowing dresses will never be worn. They are carved from marble. Carrera Marble, the same material used in the world’s most well-known naked statue–Michelangelo’s David, made up their bodies. And Alasdair Thomson, a sculptor living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland, gave the marbles lives.
Alasdair’s artwork aims at capturing the lightness and gracefulness in stone. He asked his family members and friends to donate clothes for his creation, and then recreate them out of marble. You can check more of his work on his personal website and instagram.
